I can do THAT

This morning, at the One Kings Lane Tastemakers Sale, I noted that this Blue Lacquered Armoire by designer Chloe Redmond Warner sold for just under four THOUSAND clams.
Seriously.
It seems to have a lot in common with my own, turq-WAZ lacquered bureau - which, by the way, is an inexpensive hand-me-down that I refinished in all its glossy glory. It's still one of my fave DIY projects - perhaps I should submit it to Eddie?

Anyway, regarding that price tag...Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Yeah, thought so...

That price made my jaw drop. $4k?! Thank goodness for DIY... Your piece is easily as nice as the designer one!

Fabulous!
I think it gives more satisfaction to have a much cheaper version of an uber expensive piece anyway.

I actually like yours WAY more. Better color. Better handles.

I agree with Bailey, yours is better and what I really can't believe is that someone would pay more than $4K for a piece that could so obviously be replicated with a good DIY- dumb!!

Totally absurd. These dressers are so easy to find on any city's Craig's List. Seriously, a little elbow grease and you can get the same look easily (as you've proved!) p.s. totally submit to eddie!

That is so funny, I saw the first one and not the second and got thinking; I have seen that somewhere before; duh? At your house! You were the original :).

SERIOUSLY. How does one get hooked up with a Tastemaker Tag Sale?!

I could finance my own Maldivian getaway with one of those.

When I first read it, I thought you wrote that it cost under $1,000. Then i reread and it said $4,000 and I almost barfed on my laptop. Break out the paint and get in on the action! If I could, I'd spray paint everything I own turquoise.

FOUR THOUSAND?!?! I'd think it was a high quality antique but for the fact that THEY LACQUERED IT (which you'd NEVER, EVER do to a high quality antique). That's just stupid.

And I think I like yours better anyway. ;)
