We spent the week of Thanksgiving with good friends in Florence, Italy. If you follow my Instagram feed (hint: you should @alison giese), then you've likely seen many of these snaps. Oh, the ease of the iPhone pic; I hardly took my DSLR out of its case.
Needless to say, we had a wonderful time - stayed in a beautiful apartment hosted by gracious friends, ate simply and lovely, and got a taste of a Northern Hemisphere Autumn, which totally helped me get in the mood for the holiday season.
This was our second trip to Italy, but our first to Florence, and I can't recommend the city enough. All the cliches about the art and romance and beauty are true. (It's also a decorator's dream: doors, hardware INSANITY)
Since we had our kiddos (with short attention spans) in tow, we didn't see a lot of the big tour items. Instead, we just enjoyed being in such an amazing place - soaking it all in.
It was certainly a great place to give Thanks.
I might hate you a little for getting to spend a whole week there! OK not really hate, but jealous you got to spend a whole week there!
