You'll have to forgive me....I weinee'd out of picking a giveaway winner myself. I just couldn't! Everyone has a great reason for needing/wanting $500 worth of cute business stationary. So.
I let Random do it.
She has no qualms, and she picked...
Congratulations, MaryNeff! I'll be in touch with instructions on how to claim your prize!
And, now....a peek at the ginormo canvas I had framed last week. It's a folk art painting by a street artist out of Rio de Janeiro - where we're moving in about 2 1/2 weeks - eeek! Anyway, I had it sandwiched between two pieces of glass, with about a three-inch float between the painting and the frame.
The Brazilian framers thought I was "crazy American lady," but I knew exactly what I wanted, which included being able to see the raw edges of the canvas.
We paid very little for the painting, so while I wanted to honor its humble heritage, I also wanted to do it justice by framing it as a real, statement piece.
I can't wait to install it in our new apartment in Rio.
Let's hope it survivies the trip....

That is just striking! Love the way you decided to frame it as well.
That is such an amazing painting and really love your idea of how you decided to show the raw edges! Good luck with the move.
Love it!!!!
Yay MaryNeff!!! Ah-mazing, to say the least. Love the canvas...and it WILL survive the move. I just know it. Best wishes...
BRILLIANT! Did you use glass or plexiglass? If glass it must be HEAVY!
I have a piece about that size...just a canvas, I bought it in Olinda Brazil (by Recife) for pennies...I might stela your framing idea, although mine was originally mounted on a shipping crate, and the sides were painted a NEON yellow....may just be a tad bright!
Just beautiful, Alison. You were so smart to consider the piece itself when you framed it. Good luck with the upcoming move - I know how fun that can be! :)
That painting is gorgeous! I really love how it's framed; and I love how huge it is.
OMG!!! IT IS FABULOUS! Great JOB!!!
That painting is completely amazing! The size is incredible and will look so amazing pretty much anywhere you put it. Very excited to find your blog - I love your style and can't wait to see your new place :) xx
