DBRB Symptoms Arising...

I'm feelin' it again...symptoms of Design Blog-Reader's Blues have been a 'creepin into my brain as I work on Avery's room redo...

I did settle on a bedding ensemble for her room - the Callie set from PBKids
The pattern is discontinued - but I lucked out and found a complete (well, minus a skirt) set on Ebay - sweet price, too!
Remember, I'm planning to paint the bed a deep midnight blue to temper all the hot pink..
...But, I can't leave well enough alone - and am not sure I want the bulk of the pattern in the room to be on the duvet - I was imaging more of a white coverlet/duvet with pink edging, and then patterned skirt/shams look. I'm still brainstorming on how to use this set to create such a look.

When I was tossing around ideas of other patterns, I spied some uh-ma-zing fabrics on the Quadrille/South Seas website. I emailed the oh-so-sweet-and-talented Marianne of Haven and Home to see if she could help me out with some swatches. (The fabrics are to-the-trade, and I knew Marianne was at Market that week) - she kindly obliged, but gave me fair disclaimer - These fabrics are C.R. AZY expensive (at least for this blogstress - and most sane people)

...That's when the DBRB symptoms arose...inspiration, followed by sadness, ending with disdain for high-end fabric manufacturers - I mean, really WHY do they have to be so freakin' expensive? Here's some of the patterns I'm having conniptions over...
Yes, this is for Avery's room - I did her nursery in soft-candy pink, so I'm going for more of an elegant-little-diva bedroom look this go round. Do I even have a prayer for a throw pillow or two out of this stuff - Prob' not...

But what I CAN have is Round Two of The Cure for DBRB!!! The requests to the MLHP designer panel have been sent, so I'll be compiling all the yummy, insider scoop pics soon. I know you can't wait!!! Stay tuned...

Those fabrics are all gorgeous...I'm really loving the vibe that you have going on. And a really glossy dark blue on the bed would just be the chicest thing!

I'm loving this re-do...because I'm watching really close, taking notes, and then when it's time to do my lil' crumb's room, I'll have the Queen of DIY steps to follow!

LOVE the fabrics...how will you ever choose?

I'm fabric-ly challenged, so I can't offer any ideas or suggestions.... I love where you've got her room heading though. The pink and midnight blue will look so amazing together. Very girly, but not too overly fem. That first fabric is my favorite.

I'm with you on the crazy expensive fabric feeling- I mean its nutty what ONE yard of fabric can cost.

The fabrics you chose are beautiful and I have no doubt that you will come up with something amazing for Avery's room. Have I ever told you that I love her name, its beautiful!

Oh, and those stools in my kitchen, I got them from my office when we were moving locations- they were giving them away. I scored two stools and six chairs. I dont know where they got them though, but I know that Pottery Barn, DWR and a bunch of other places have them too. I'll see if I can find them and send you the links.

i feel yer pain. those first 2 fabrics are my faves. but honestly i WOULDn't spend the money on them for the little one's room b/c as i have said in the past she/you will outgrow them sooner than you think. but if you can get a great deal i say go for it. hopefully marianne will come thru for you, she will do all she can i am sure. she is so kind and lovely.
have you tried etsy to see if someone can make a replica of that pattern for you?

Love the hot pink/navy color combination and those fabrics are so beautiful and so sophisticated.

I feel you on the trade-only, uber-pricey fabrics. I know that quality demands a higher price, but sometimes I wonder if the fabric is spun outta gold! Also, I seriously need to figure out how to get a trade discount....

I have been shopping with my daughter all week for fabric for chairs--ohhh so many choices with only one chair and a newlwed's budget! What we have found is that we can almost always duplicate (or at least get close)an expensive look for much less. Granted, it isn't the same, but it works! I love all the ideas for your daughter's room and can't wait to see more!--especially the headboard!

Have you got them yet? Let me know which ones you like and we will see what we can do about pricing (wink wink).

BEAUTIFUL. I made all of my daughter's nursery items-including some handmade chennile on her quilt. I made it so I could add on to it when she went to a big girl bed. I get tons of posts about it on my blog. I hope you will come over and take a look. I've added you to my blog roll as well.
